On the Path to Help Others: Meet Manisha, Financial Adviser

This year, our Client Services Manager Manisha has completed her studies and joined the Velocity Team as a fully qualified financial adviser!

What inspired you to become a financial adviser?

My inspiration came from my personal experience of working with an adviser (Lance!) who helped me to realise how I could leverage my house to buy my second property as well. It was an awesome feeling to successfully get onto the property ladder at a young age and that inspired me to change my career path to help others get into property too!

How do you define success in your role, and how do you measure it?

Honestly, it is just happy clients and obtaining great outcomes for them. We get a lot of business through referrals and word of mouth, so we know that we must be doing something well when our clients want to send their friends and family to us!!

What are the most rewarding aspects of being a financial adviser for you?

I feel like guiding clients towards financial freedom and seeing them achieve their goals gives me so much satisfaction, it is super rewarding being able to make a difference to someone’s life in that way.

In what ways do you feel you can make the biggest impact on your clients’ lives?

Probably by showing people, especially young people, that it is possible to buy a home at a young age if you have good advice and a strategy in place. That was certainly my experience and an area that I feel I can talk to and help people with.

How do you stay updated with the latest financial regulations and products?

We do a lot of work and training internally and externally to ensure we are up to date with the latest financial regulations and industry info, but it is really Brendon’s knowledge ha-ha. He is always across everything!! So I pick his brains a lot.

What are the core values that guide you in your work as a financial adviser?

It sounds cliché but great communication cannot be understated in this role. I really want to help other people as I was once helped, and so being committed and caring are some of my key values as well.

What long-term goals are you aiming to achieve in your career?

It’s pretty simple - I just want to be known for doing a good job for my clients! Helping them to achieve their goals is my goal really.

What kind of people can come and talk to you?

Everyone and anyone. I worked for 10 years in an industry where I had clients from all walks of life and have picked up the skill of communicating with a diverse range of people. I have been told I am approachable and easy to talk to. Some would say talk too much! Lol

What do you think sets you apart from other financial advisers?

I have been working in the industry for three years now. In that time I have not only done the study required but worked under some great mentors in my day-to-day role. That hands-on experience has been a real asset. I have more knowledge about the industry than most advisers starting out.

What can clients talk to you about?

I'm all ears. I am here to listen to whatever it is the client wants and help them in whatever direction they want to go when it comes to Mortgages and Insurance.
