Christmas is right around the corner, and in honour of such a laid-back time of the year, I thought I’d take that approach with the yarn this month and give you a quick “what’s going on” at Caveo instead of my usual insurance-themed chat.
First things first, we had a new team member join us at Caveo. Her name is Taz, and she’s already hitting the ground running. You’ll primarily bump into her helping support Alice and I with renewals and residential enquiries, as well as looking after you when you have a claim – whether that’s keeping you up to date or chasing insurers on your behalf. Taz doesn’t enjoy writing about herself, so a fun fact that I discovered about her is that she is currently teaching herself to play the ukulele – Caveo band tour dates TBA.
Second things second, some of you might not know this, but Alice is basically Irene Van Dyk, if Irene Van Dyk was 5’4 and Māori. Recently, Alice took part in a netball tournament out in the Hutt, which we sponsored, and she was snapping necks and cashing cheques. Everything was going spectacularly, and they were so close to eternal glory… until Alice attempted a manoeuvre outside of her skill set and fully ruptured one ligament, partially tore another, and almost ruptured another two in the process. She’s a little sore at the moment and in a moon boot, so please wish her a speedy recovery and have a little bit of patience if she’s taking slightly longer than normal to get back to you 😊 Here’s a photo of her after the incident, in all her bubbly glory – what a machine!
Finally, I have been doing some stuff. Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to be nominated for IA's Accelerator Course in Australia, an intensive three-day course focusing on strategic planning, personality profiling, marketing, interpersonal skills, sales conversations, and presentation skills. The program also included the opportunity to win a $20,000 Accelerator Achievement Award to attend the Tysers Academy program at Lloyd's of London, UK. Last week, I travelled to Australia for a conference where they announced the winner and, would you believe it, that winner was me 😊 Honestly, Caveo wouldn’t be the brokerage it is without all of you – you allow us to do things our way: by being ourselves, being a little silly, and having some personality, all while trusting us to look after your insurance and trusting that we know what we’re doing – so thank you, genuinely, you make me absolutely love my job. Here’s a photo of me being announced the winner and getting the big dog Shaun Stanfield to give a thumbs up to the camera with me and my outrageously squinty smile haha.
You’ll hear from us once more before Chrissy, I reckon. Until then, say hi to your Nan for me and I’ll talk to you soon 😊
Cheers,
Joshua
