Welcome to the team, Giovana!

Last month we welcomed onboard Giovana, as our new Client Services Manager and Financial Adviser in Dean's Team.

As per our Velocity Traditions, we asked Giovana some very important questions!

Who is the real Giovana?

I am Peruvian, a mum of two girls, a wife. I love dancing, I can't resist a good beat, and I used to perform in cultural dancing, which is on hold due to my baby still being a bit young. I love eating, especially Peruvian food, which my husband and I try to cook at home. I'm very spiritual, and I try to help people on that path as well.

Why do you do what you do?

I believe in what we offer (financial services products), and I love helping people, so they have a plan if the worst happens.

What is something unique that you can teach your colleagues?

To dance! I love dancing 🙂 and professionally, I'm good at prioritizing, being organized, and looking for solutions as a team.

What’s something that you are looking forward to in your new role?

I'm looking forward to continuing to learn in general, but especially how to be a financial adviser, as I only started that path in April this year, and there’s still a lot to learn in that space.

What's a piece of advice you've received that has stuck with you throughout your career?

Refocus, re-prioritize, and keep going. Everything is possible if you declutter your busy mind, basically, and that’s helped me to keep pushing through things when I thought I was stuck.

What quote resonates with you today/this week?

"Begin with the end in mind" - Stephen Covey.

It’s very important to have a clear vision and purpose in life.

What inspired you to pursue a career in financial services?

I started in the industry as a Personal Assistant 12 years ago, not knowing what I wanted, and now I am very glad I landed where I did.

We talk to people every day about money and goals. Do you have any financial goals or aspirations that you are willing to share with us?

Yes, we want a four-bedroom home in 2-3 years, and we would love to travel as a family of four every 2-3 years as well, so our girls can know the world.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?

I’m from Peru, so I love music, especially the tunes that prompt you to dance. So, I would choose “Cariñito” by Bareto. It’s a signature song from my home, and my older daughter loves this song as well.

What podcasts/books/movies/speakers inspire you and why?

I love movies with a positive message or the ones that allow you to dream high and show you that everything is possible, like "The Pursuit of Happyness."

What will you be doing in 20 years’ time?

In 20 years’, time, my girls will be adults, and I hope to have no mortgage left, so I will be working part-time just because I love my work and traveling with my husband to Europe and Latin America.

What do you hope to achieve at Velocity?

Professionally – learning from my mentors about how to be a better financial adviser, assisting the team with my knowledge to strengthen our procedures and compliance, and keep growing professionally. Personally – looking forward to properly meeting each of the team and making new friendships.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

A Farmers gift card to my mother-in-law so she could buy whatever she wants for her birthday.

Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?

I do not like the idea of fighting, but I would choose one horse-sized duck, hoping I can either scare the bird away or hide.

Current binge watch/binge/read/binge anything?

I recently finished watching Bridgeton, loved it

What is a happy memory for you?

I like my family and friends get togethers from when hubby and I were in Peru 🙂 But also my daughter's births of course 🙂

Please join us in welcoming Giovana to the Team!
